Greek National Gallery was build in 1900 in Athens. It hosts more than 15000 paintings.

Opi Zouni’s paintings are some of the few that belong to greek women artists. Opi Zouni (1941-2008) was an important Greek painter and artist born in Kairo, with origin from Crete and Santorini. She studied in Greece, in School of Fine Arts. Due to her gender, she could not present her work in Greece.

She has held over 70 solo exhibitions in Europe and 450 participations in group exhibitions . She was a representative of geometric art in Greece.

Her creations were influenced by Arabic culture but also incorporated Greek elements. Unfortunately, in our country her work wasn’t recognized at her time because she was a woman.

Today, a lot of her paintings can be found in Greek National Gallery in Athens.
