Anica Černej was a Slovenian teacher, writer and poet, born on 3 April 1900 in Čadram. Anica Černej was born into a family of teachers. Her father, Ljudevit Černej, was first a teacher, later a school superintendent and also a poet and writer. Her mother was a teacher, Marija Hasenbüchl. Like her father, Anica was also a teacher and a speaker. She went to school at the age of five (1905) in Griže near Celje. After four years (1909) she went to Maribor to a private school for school sisters (today the Congregation of the School Sisters of St. Francis of Christ the King). She taught in Griže and later in Celje. In 1927 she qualified to teach mathematics, physics and chemistry by passing her diploma examination in Zagreb.
