Magdalenas Garretas Sastre

Magdalena Garretas Sastre (Vizcaya 1912-Barcelona 2011). After finishing her high school studies at the Instituto Femenino in Bilbao, she went to Salamanca as a scholarship holder at the Colegio de Santiago. In Salamanca, she studied Philosophy and Letters between 1930 and 1934 and graduated with an Extraordinary Prize. She was an assistant to Miguel de Unamuno, teaching until the University of Salamanca was closed due to the war. Subsequently, she passed the exams for the Greek secondary school teaching posts, becoming a teacher in Cádiz. She taught until her retirement in 1982.
