Ida Kravanja was one of the few Slovenian actresses who managed to make a name for themselves abroad. Under the artistic name Ita Rina, she succeeded in the European and world film world. She was born on 7 July 1907 in Divača in the Karst region. Her father Jožef Kravanja was from Bovec, and her mother Marija, born as Marka was from Log pod Mangartom. Her father worked on the railway, as did many inhabitants of Divača, which was an important railway crossing on the route of the Southern Railway. At the outbreak of the First World War, the family moved to Ljubljana.
