Minka Govekar (born Minka Vasič) was a Slovenian translator, activist and publicist, born on 28 October 1874 in Trebnje. She got on well with her parents. She was educated in Ljubljana, in a bourgeois school run by the Ursulines. There, she gained most of her knowledge through reading, and her writings were brilliant. She decided to become a teacher, as this was almost the only way for women to get an education at that time.
