Female governors of Salamanca
Queen Juana Manuel de Villena.
She was governor of Salamanca from 1369 to 1381 due to her marriage to Enrique de Trastámara, who became king of Castile after defeating his brother Pedro I “”The Cruel””. During the war she actively supported her husband. As King of Castile, Juana led the siege of Zamora, which was surrendered in 1373.
