Elisaveta Bagryana (1893-1991) was a prominent Bulgarian poet who lived in Sofia for much of her life. She is considered one of Bulgaria’s most significant poets, often called “the first lady of Bulgarian women’s literature”. Elisaveta has been nominated for the Nobel Prize in Literature three times and made substantial contributions to the country’s literary heritage.
