Woman in arts

Mara Belcheva (1868-1937) was a poet, teacher, translator, and philologist. She published three collections of poetry: “Footsteps on the Threshold”, 1918, “Sonnets”, 1926, and “Selected Songs”, 1931. Mara published a biography of her late partner, poet Pencho Slaveykov, in 1925. She also translated Friedrich Nietzsche’s Thus Spoke Zarathustra and Gerhart Hauptmann’s Die versunkene Glocke into Bulgarian.
