The Shelter for working women.

The Shelter for working women, has been located in Sokratous 19th Avenue since 1960. Anastasia Koumbaridou had the idea for this initiative, since the women that worked in the area were coming from rural areas and they didn’t have any place to rest during their break from work.

Anastasia Koumbaridou, asked from the Faneromenis Church to give this place to women for this purpose. Back then, there were beds and other facilities and up to 75 women were having a place to relax and eat during their work-break times. Also, it was also a place where female workers and their trade unions had the opportunity to meet and talk about any working issues. Today, the Shelter is still working but not in the same dynamic as the earlier years.
